Sewing for Pets

Over at Patternreview, there's a contest for the first two weeks in September , Sewing for Pets http://sewing.patternreview.com/SewingDiscussions/topic/53390

These are my entries. A couple of dog beds, plus coats for Mollie, Sanka and Alby. The hardest part of the task was getting the photos for the review!!

The pattern for the coats came from this book by Wendy Bealing.

All the patterns in the book are in graph form and it's simply a case of enlarging the graph.

The dog beds were just merely an oversize pillowslip. No pattern, no measurements just the size of the furnishing remnant.

A real bonus here as all the materials from these projects came from the stash - fabric, fur insert, binding, buttons, the lot! Can't beat that.

Babies Galore

I guess it's an age thing, but suddenly I'm surrounded by people having babies .... no, not friends, but their kids. Yep! we're onto the next generation. Just this week, there's news of two more, so a couple of gifts are needed. Since both babies are "firsts", I gave the clothing bit a miss and opted for something that can be used in the months to come.

As you can see, the first of the two babies was a boy. This gift needs to be posted to The Netherlands (from Australia) so I needed something that 1. couldn't break and 2, was fairly light. So here's a polarfleece throw that I embroidered. Not only light, but can be thrown on the floor when baby gets to the floor age and then tossed in the washing machine.

The embroidery design is a Design by Sick applique. These designs are soooo good.

And what better design for a little Aussie living OS?

Next a towel and washer set for a sweet little girl. Once again the embroidery is a Designs by Sick with the name embroidered using an Echidna lettering program.

I really enjoyed embroidering these items. I hope the recipients enjoy these items.

World's Worst Blogger Here!

Ok, so I'm the worst blogger ever!!

Yes, I've been sewing. Yes, I've been stashing. Yes, I've been reading about sewing, watching sewing shows (ie Project Runway) and talking sewing, b-u-t, no, none of it's on 'paper'.

It's time to make amends.

Sooooo, here's some ideas for my next few projects.

This McCall's pattern peaked my interest .... maybe in a very slinky blue that's been maturing? or a lovely white stretch lace?

I'm also loving these Ottobre pants (the jacket too, but since we're coming into spring it will have to wait).

I think this pink top also has possiblities, we'll see.
